What does love mean to you?

The Meaning of Love

What love means to me is

a partnership of trust,

a merging of souls,

commitment a must.

It's not about ownership

or archaic vows to obey.

It's about loyalty, fidelity,

and the sacrifices we make.

What love means to me is

a meeting in the middle.

Two souls functioning together,

both opposite, yet equal.

Like the motion of waves

love waxes and then wanes.

First, romance and excitment

then conpanionship is gained.

What love means to me is

how you season the weather

surviving imminent tempests

and then cuddling together.

Companionate love

is the ultimate goal

a love that means comfort

a love that's grown old.

what love means to me is

an assured kiss goodnight

from my best friend and lover,

on the left, to my right.

What does love mean to you?
I wish I had written this poem. You are so special. Last night I reread your profile and wondered if you're "laying waste (your ) powers." You have so much to give and you're so perceptive. Please don't change a word of this poem; it's superlative.
Reply:not that's...that Report It

Reply:very good definition of what love is.

Love is what makes you think of someone else instead of yourself. Love makes you do for someone else instead of yourself.
Reply:Love means different things to different people, and it is thus also expressed differently. Thanks for sharing.
Reply:i love it is so true
Reply:in short, EVERYTHING!
Reply:I love it its like a poem did you write it if you did its terrific!
Reply:You have written poem with your soul and the way you think about love and that's a very pretty things which one can express it so beautifully and various types of feeling.
Reply:woah!! you're ssooo deep ... love for me is .. mm .. uhh ... ..... undescribable
Reply:I LUV it its very deep and meaningful
Reply:I liked it but you need to do some editing like more capital letters and you should make it clearer. Great message!
Reply:this poem is awesome. nice job
Reply:so meaningful and wonderful
Reply:It seems to me that for you to have captured the essence and substance of love so well, you must, yourself, have so much love in your heart. You have expressed it beautifully in seven separately engaging stanzas that together create a powerful poem about the meaning of love. I love this. Thank you.
Reply:What a wonderful definition of love. Webster could use this, especially stanza four!
Reply:This is such a good poem. Its so true. Keep up the good work.
Reply:To tell the truth, it s more like a short essay than a poem.

I cant find any poetic flow or beauty.

There is no poetry here. there is no poetic space where the readers can dream.

It can be the lyric for a song,

But its only my opinion.
Reply:All our young lives we search for someone to love. Someone who makes us complete. We choose partners and change partners. We dance to a song of heartbreak and hope. All the while wondering if somewhere, somehow, there's someone perfect who might be searching for us.

Among those whom I like or admire, I can find no common denominator, but among those whom I love, I can: all of them make me laugh.

Love lasts so long because we are gradually learning more and more about the initial personality that one fell in love with at first sight, or came to fall in love over time. (And in the latter case, once actualized, the lovers would fall in love at first sight if it happened again.) And we are continually falling/rising in love with the growing and evolving person that shares our life with us.

I love you not only for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you.

Love suffers long, and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.... And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear: because fear has torment. He that fears is not made perfect in love

Take away love, and our earth is a tomb

The ability to show love must always be part of the equation. Technology hasn't crossed that barrier. The day love dies will be the virtual end of the world.....

I know I'm beautiful, or so I've often been told. But would you still love me when I'm ugly and old?

By the way, love the poem,..great job!!!
