God is indeed love...?

The essence of Love is derived from God. This is the true love, known as Agape.

Even those who don't believe can't help but agree that Love has been taken out of context and misued to the point that one might say that they are a loving slavemaster. Agape love is the true essence of what Love is supposed to be. It is self-sacrificing, humbling, satisfactory, and unlimiting love that God showed us by sending Jesus to die for our sins. That's how love is to be. the love between parent and child, husband and wife, siblings, and neighors.

God has granted us freewill, but we seem to continue to hurt each other and ourselves. God has granted us air to breathe, but we continue to do everything from pollute the air to worship false idols. God sent his to show us how to encounter Satan's tactics, but we killed him. Worse yet, we disgrace his name and what he stood for. Yet we continue to live with freewill.

If you've been disrepected like that, could you love?

UR thoughts?

God is indeed love...?
I think that like the air, Love is also taken for granted. We have lost the power to truly love and respect each other. Your words are deep and I hope that many more people will read what you wrote. Despite the things that I have experienced- God will allow me to open my heart and Love and be loved! Thanks! :)
Reply:Agape is a rarity these days. Most forms of human love come with lots of conditions, whether we choose to believe this or not. The closest form of love to agape is a mother's love for her child I think. Many mothers would love and protect their children no matter what they said or did. I know that I would. My child could commit the worst act imaginable against me and I would still love and protect him. I'm sure of it. So yes, I believe that if I was disrespected to the worst degree, I could still love my child, no one else. Maybe that's why God loves us unconditionally, because we are all his children.
Reply:I would at least let my people know that I am here. I would destroy the wicked so those that I love are not living in torture.
Reply:To clear up the confusion, I think what you meant was that God is love and that the ability to show genuine selfless love for others is a product of our relationship with Him. Correct me if I'm wrong on that.

And because God is love, we can substitute the word "God" for love in these passages:

1 Corinthians 13:4-8a.

"Love is patient, love is kind; love does not envy; love does not boast, is not puffed up; does not behave disgracefully, does not seek its own, is not provoked to anger, thinks no evil; does not rejoice over unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails."

God is patient and kind, even when we disobey Him and turn our backs on His love. He isn't easily provoked to anger and definitely rejoices with the truth, no matter how we abuse our freewill.

And no matter how much we hurt Him with our bad decisions, He still loves us. . .because God never fails.
Reply:Yes. I can guarantee you that if my children "disrespected" me like that (as you put it) I would absolutely *not* torture them forever. Period.

If they denied me as a parent, I wouldn't do it.

There is nothing that would make me do that....to anyone, let alone my children.

In that way, we are far greater than your god.

Sorry.
Reply:I think it is disrespectful to claim that "God Is Love". To say "God is the source of love" is to deny human love, love between people. It makes love cheaper, more arbitrary and less personal and caring. Humans beings themselves are the source of love, and love between people is due to their own feelings, to take away their responsibility for this feeling and say that it depends on God is inhuman. To love someone purely with your heart and emotions is good, but to have to explain it away or want to take less responsibility for feeling and wanting that love is hurtful.
Reply:I'll show you my 7-incher-limp for some agape and aghast love.
Reply:No, I couldn't myself. But our God is the most merciful God and since He wants all to come to Him, He keeps on trying, doesn't He? He's unlimited in His patience is my guess.

Peace of Jesus to you.
Reply:You said it all.. And my brother it was beautiful... Jim
Reply:my thoughts??? i think youve got it real, real bad...i feel sorry for you. i suggest you do some opposition research and look into these beliefs of yours. it may not be too late to save yourself. good luck.
Reply:Yes indeed God is Love. What a shame to see how many people miss out on the greatest love they will ever know in all eternity. They miss because of sinful and hardened hearts that flow over with false pride, greed, hatred and lust for self indulgance. There are a lot of things in life we should miss out on but God's love poured out on us through Jesus Christ is certainly not one of them. We all need to repent today!
Reply:he loves you so much if you don't obey him like the dog you are he will send you to burn in hell for eternity.

Supposedly we are his favorites now, but what if he creates a new race of people. Will he treat us like the angels he pushed aside when we were created, and we will become second fiddle to the new breed.
Reply:None of this is about love. Since nothing you have said I believe in. I am not sure what you mean by being disrespected like that. If, as Christians believe that there is one true god and that one god did create everything and is all knowing then he knew what we, as humans, would do. Then he already knew this and has the knowledge of what we are doing in the future, or knew this when he supposedly created humans and still, as Christians believe, sent his supposed son even knowing that humans would kill him. You all preach that your one god still loves humans. Tell me, isn't that hypocrisy at its best.
Reply:You just said God IS love but then contradicted yourself by saying love is DERIVED from God. Which is it?
