Does trust = love?

If you trust someone does that automatically mean you love them? Or in other words, if you don't trust someone can you love them? Personally, I can love someone I trust, and I can trust someone I love, but is it possible to love someone you don't trust? What about trust someone you don't love?

Is it possible to divorce trust from love? Can you picture loving someone but not trusting them? Is this what happens to victims of abuse (spousal abuse or child abuse) where the victim knows they will be beaten, but they stay with the abuser? What about trusting someone, but not loving them? Is that possible?

Does trust = love?
While I think that these both go together, I also think they COULD be mutually exlusive. You can trust someone without loving them, and you could love someone even if you do not trust them.

To have a totally complete and fulfilling love, however, or trust, you need both. My 2 cents.
Reply:For sure both are possible.

I might trust a surgeon for example to do an operation but this in no way means that I LOVE them.

Many people on this planet love people that they cant trust. A parent will often LOVE a child know FULL WELL that they cant trust them.

Even in intimate relationships this is a possible position. Humans are complicated and this issue is just ONE of many that have way too many variables to be definitive about the outcomes.
Reply:No. There are many types of love, and trust makes up only one type, specifically a type of love called "liking" which is hinged on intimacy.

consummate love involves intimacy, commitment, and passion.

If you want to know more about other types of love, I would recommend googleing the Robert Sternberg triangular theory of love.
Reply:Trust is one in a loving relationship...

also no fear letting go and that is where Trust plays a big part in the relationship...

Communication as well without it you are hiding something and not relating and the trust starts to deteriorate the relationship big and important factor..
Reply:i would say YES! because you can't love a person if you don't trust them...

i can't picture myself loving someone without trust, TRUST is very important in every relationship. ;)
