arent we able to be happy for the one we love when he/she finds someone who makes him/her happier???
I think the only real love that exists is mother to child love, the only one that accomplish what really defines love: being able to love when you know that the object of your love (probably) loves someone else more than loves you...The rest is just literature love.
Why, if love is such a powerful feeling, so pure , so romantic, so ...?
Wilson Phillips made a entire song about this and it still sounded like a bunch of crap. The fat girl wrote that song so she wouldn't feel so depressed about her pathetic life. If you listen to it, it makes you even angrier than a normal breakup song would. "I'm so happy that you found someone that you feel is smarter, funnier, more attractive, etc., etc., than I am. And it makes me joyful to know that he makes you feel that your time with me was like a prison sentence. I love you, and I'm happy just to know that you found someone who makes you happier than I did. Now I will spend the rest of my days alone. Or perhaps I will meet someone else who will also eventually leave me for someone better. It makes excited just think about it. Go! Be happy with your new lover! But before you go, I just want to....rip your beating heart out with a steak knife! TAKE THAT, YOU WENCH! NOW YOU KNOW HOW IT FEELS TO HAVE YOUR HEART RIPPED OUT! I'M GOING TO SEND IT IN A GIFT-WRAPPED BOX TO YOUR TRASHY, HOME-WRECKING BOYFRIEND!" (sigh*) Now I feel better. Thank you.
Reply:Because pple are immature and selfish. When u treat some women like cinderella, they treat u like crap. And when you treat some men like princes, they run out and screw all the chicks in the bar.
It's just stupid, immature people.
Reply:I hate to put a hole in your theory but, Some mothers don't give a crap about their kids. Love is what you make it. No matter who or what you are love is what you make it. A parent could be the most loving person in the world to their child then because of drugs or sexual preference or any stupid little thing disown them. A lover could love you with all the passion in their heart and one day find a new love. Love is just like life. It has no answers.
Reply:it exists, it's just rare, sometimes doesnt last long.....depends on what would you define as love
Reply:You've got alot going on here, is this like a 3-part question.
I am happy for my friends who have lovers.
I think parent love is swell.
I dont' think the rest is literature love. You will be more likely to find real love when you love yourself first whether it happens or not, at least you found self-actualization
Reply:To many ways to answer this. Not sure of exactly what your looking for?
Reply:If mother child love is the only love that is truly love... please explain this to me:
Every person I have ever met has gained a place in my heart. What I feel for each and every one of them is a love that is infinitely deep... for lack of a better way to explain it. Each feeling I feel every time I think about one of the people I know... is so strong, that I can only compare it to infinity as it feels as though it could not get any stronger . I feel these feelings for people... but they are not romantic feelings... they are just very, very strong feelings. they are infinite... even when the person does something to heart me... I still feel an infinite amount of love for them. Even after one of my friends said things about me behind my back... to other people who were my friends... and made my life very hard for me... because I found myself without any friends... I still loved them with infinite love, and because of this infinite love... I couldn't believe that this person would do such a thing... and I still believe that it was all my fault that all the pain I went through came down to me... it is all my fault. I still love that person... and I always will.
Reply:it is so true.. the only powerful love that is truly pure love is mother to child love. even when you think you are maddly in love with your significant other, it would never be the same to as mother to child love. love is not only of butterflies or compromise, it's also about hardships and pain but the only thing that matters is that the person you love is right there with you when you're going through this.. love is such a complicated thing.. yet it is so beautiful.. but nothing gold stays forever.. love is so precious.
Reply:FIRST OF ALL, THERE ARE 4 KINDS OF LOVE HERE!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/greek_words
Four Kinds of Love
* Agape (agápe) means "love" in modern day Greek. The term s'agapo means "I love you" in Greek. The word "agapo" is the verb "I love". In Ancient Greek it often refers to a general affection or concern, rather than the physical attraction suggested by "eros"; agape is used in ancient texts to denote one's feeling for a good meal, one's children, and the feelings one has for a spouse. However there are a large number of exceptions in non-Christian writing where the term is used in a context where it means lust. The verb appears in the New Testament describing, amongst other things, the relationship between Jesus and the beloved disciple. Many Christian scholars have consequently argued that the verb's use in the New Testament is simply to describe God's love for humanity, while other scholars have argued that it has more romantic connotations.
* Eros (éro-s) is passionate love, with sensual desire and longing. The Modern Greek word "erotas" means "(romantic) love". Plato refined his own definition. Although eros is initially felt for a person, with contemplation it becomes an appreciation of the beauty within that person, or even becomes appreciation of beauty itself. It should be noted Plato does not talk of physical attraction as a necessary part of love, hence the use of the word platonic to mean, "without physical attraction". Plato also said Eros helps the soul recall knowledge of beauty, and contributes to an understanding of spiritual truth. Lovers and philosophers are all inspired to seek truth by eros. The most famous ancient work on the subject of eros is Plato's Symposium, which is a discussion among the students of Socrates on the nature of eros.
* Philia (philía), means friendship in modern Greek, a dispassionate virtuous love, was a concept developed by Aristotle. It includes loyalty to friends, family, and community, and requires virtue, equality and familiarity. In ancient texts, philia denoted a general type of love, used for love between family, between friends, a desire or enjoyment of an activity, as well as between lovers. Think Philadelphia (city of Brotherly Love).
* Storge (storge-) means affection in modern Greek; it is natural affection, like that felt by parents for offspring. Rarely used in ancient works, and then almost exclusively as a descriptor of relationships within the family.
Reply:You're too young to be so jaded.
Reply:THEY NEED TO GO AWAY ALL THEY WANT IS SEX AND EVERYTHING I SAY ABANDON THIS WORD AND LETS GO AND LIVE LIFE.
Reply:We always want people to love us the way we love them. This is why a mother to child relationship seems like the only real love. But mothers can make their children the way they want them to be. Especially if she thinks a man is not her friend just as much as her lover. Then she will have a child so that she can have a little friend.
Reply:If he really wanted to go ...yes, of course I'd let him go. I love you doesn't mean I own you.
Reply:Couldn't have said it better myself!
Reply:I don't agree.
Firstly, let us divide the bull from the things of some real interest.
Love is not a "pure"emotion, but it can lead to pure devotion. My original lover, still my friend -- was much more straight than he was gay. I realized that when we were still teens. It was a painful split apart -- but I sent him away to find the rest of himself, out of love.
Does that sort of devotion exist? Yes, more often than you realize.
As for the pure love of a mother -- give me a break. More damage is done to children by their parents, usually by their mothers, than a stick can be shaken at.
Whatever you are looking for, look instead for devotion and love one for another -- life can be wonderful -- it has been for me most of my life -- but that's because I believe it should be.
Regards,
Reyn

:)
Reply:wow that sounded so pretty!
Reply:Wow. good lovely post.
I find you a very deep, quite and intelligent person.
Reply:Actually I wish the best for those I cared about. If the person I loved found happiness in someone else then I would be happy. But I don't call that love in the first place. To me love isn't a one sided thing. In order for it to actually be love it must be reciprocated. In other words you thought it was love, but you were wrong and there is nothing bad about being wrong.
Reply:Because I get jealous ;-)
Reply:I have problems...with my eyes...and cannot see the picture clearly...
Are you a male or female...?????
Nevemind...I answer my own question....by looking on the section...hehehe
Reply:PUT SOME FREAKING CLOTHES ON!!
Reply:There is nothing pure about love. It's a messy thing! Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that love is a bad thing at all! There are just so many different individual life experiences and moods that go into it that you can't just put a simple label on what love is.
Take a baby, for example. Love is kind of like a baby. A baby can be planned, but more often than not, we are taken by surprise. Babies are cute and wonderful. They also deliver poop. Babies do the cutest things. They can also make us want to cry.
You cannot put a simple label on a baby either, but a baby is the closest descriptopn I can think of to describe love.
Reply:Because we want happiness for ourselves. It's only natural. If the person who could make us happy is unavailable to us, of course we'll find it hard to be happy for them if they choose someone other than ourselves! Don't kick yourself for not being happy for your loved one (if you're speaking for yourself, which I assume you are....) It will take time, but you will heal, and eventually you will find someone to love, who will love you in return. Eventually you will also learn to be happy for the one you love now. ....At least that's what I hope and believe. Hang in there!
Reply:because seeing men kiss or hug or hold each other makes ym stomach turn. I wasnt TAUGHT to feel that way... its just what happens. Kinda like when i see a black guy with a white girl. I dont hate black people or homos. But i dont want em doing the things they do like that.
Reply:Yes I guess real love is sacrificial, to deny ones own wants and feelings for another. who knows
Reply:If sex is all that makes you happy, then don't you dare claim to love anything but your own sense of selfishness.
If you have never loved anything but your penis in your whole life, don't destroy what exists for couples who really do LOVE one another.
You dismiss love as non-existant because deep down you think you are unloveable. Sad. Very sad.
